The Andrew L. Hicks, Jr. Foundation’s Bowling Event

The Andrew L. Hicks, Jr. Foundation hosted a bowling event for underprivileged kids at the Downingtown Bowling Palace on March 10, 2012. Henderson High School volunteers who are a part of the foundation’s Warrior Guide Club volunteered and mentored the kids during the event. About 70 or so children from Chester were present at the event with about 90 high school volunteers. During the event there was bowling (of course) that all the kids participated in. Before feeding the kids and mentors pizza, there was a big ‘dance party’ and all the kids and mentors danced together. They formed a dancing circle and a bunch of kids went into the center and showed off their moves! There were also line dances such as Cotton-Eyed Joe and Electric Slide. Towards the end of the event everyone was given cupcakes for desert. After the event was over the kids got on their designated bus and headed home. It was a really great event and really gave everyone a chance to get to know each other! The Hicks’ Family, who formed the foundation after their son and brother died a year or two ago, were extremely pleased with the event.

The most important things in life aren’t things

This past weekend I went to Myrtle Beach with my family. It was such a great weekend! It was just the kind of weekend I needed. I am blessed to have such an amazing family! While I was in Myrtle I took a ton of pictures. I took pictures for a photography assignment, of my brother beautiful girlfriend Maddie for my other blog, and just for fun. I just couldn’t get enough of my camera! Life is all about the little things in life that mean the most! Below i’ve placed some of the pictures I took of Maddie. My camera was having difficulties shooting in bright sunlight because the ISO could only go down to 400. After reading the manual and doing some internet searches, I found that I could change a menu setting which would allow me to put my ISO on 200. I also had Lex be my assistant and we played around with strobe a little and fill flash.
